Heger Dry Dock has participated in the design of numerous floating dry docks, vessel transfer systems and launching methods. We are also regularly asked to prepare blocking plans, pumping plans and or develop procedures for drydocking difficult or unusual vessels.

Launch of Hornbeck HOS 240-ED

In 2007 HEGER was hired by Atlantic Marine, Jacksonville (Now BAE Systems Southeast), to assist with the launch of the vessel “Hornbeck HOS 240 ED”. The vessel was to be end launched on their 3,000 ton capacity launch way.

HEGER analyzed launch car wheel loads and poppet car load to verify they were within the capacity of the launch rails. Recommend location of launch cars. Calculated maximum drafts during launch to verify clearance of mud line.

The vessel was successfully launched in 2007.
