Heger Dry Dock has participated in the design of numerous floating dry docks, vessel transfer systems and launching methods. We are also regularly asked to prepare blocking plans, pumping plans and or develop procedures for drydocking difficult or unusual vessels.

Launch of Howard O. Lorenzen
In 2009 HEGER was hired by VT Halter of Pascagoula, to assist with the launch of the Howard O. Lorenzen (T-AGM – 25), an 8,500 ton research vessel. The vessel was to be side launched on tilt beams.
HEGER analyzed the transfer way loading on landside rails. We designed launch cradles to support vessel during tipping and launch. We analyzed the tipping beams and commercially certified the launch.
The vessel was successfully launched in 2010.
